Damen Shipyards Group has commenced the construction of a SeaXplorer 77 expedition yacht at its yard in Galati, Romania.
The 77m-long luxury expedition yacht is set to reach Damen’s Vlissingen East yard in the Netherlands once its hull is built.
Damen plans to complete the construction of the yacht at the Vlissingen East yard and expects to deliver the vessel by the last quarter of 2020.
Part of Damen’s SeaXplorer 77 yacht will be designed to carry 12 guests in six suites, as well as feature custom-made interiors.
A total of 25 crew, pilots and expedition staff will be deployed to operate the submersible, tenders, toys and two aircraft with a fully certified helideck and helicopter hangar.
Damen product director Mark Vermeulen said: “The SeaXplorer 77 is the largest of two projects we are currently constructing from our SeaXplorer range.
“The SeaXplorer 77 shares the range’s core attributes: compliance with the IMO Polar Code, the long periods of autonomy at sea, and the crossover of superyacht luxury with professional capability.
“Part of Damen’s SeaXplorer 77 yacht will be designed to carry 12 guests in six suites, as well as feature custom-made interiors.”
“But the design incorporates many specific client requirements such as his passion for heliskiing.”
Construction of the SeaXplorer 77 yacht will be managed by Damen’s yachting headquarters in Vlissingen, the Netherlands, in partnership with superyacht builder AMELS, which is a part of Damen since 1991.
In a separate development, Damen secured a contract from Cyprus-based VTS Vasiliko Terminal Services to build a Damen ASD Tug 2310.
To be named Ayia Marina, the vessel is currently being built at Damen Shipyards Changde in China, and is scheduled to be delivered later this year.
