UK-based security and risk mitigation specialist NCC Group has formed a strategic alliance with Moran Shipping Agencies to work together on maritime cyber security.
The alliance is set to bring about a holistic approach to maritime cyber security, combining both the partners’ expertise to create operationally relevant as well as realistic assessments and solutions.
The solutions will be customised as per the requirements of the maritime industry.
NCC Group chief operating officer Nick Rowe said: “We are combining Moran’s deep and extensive maritime expertise with our team’s unrivalled cyber security capabilities in this sector.
“With this alliance, we aim to help improve the security posture of a wider range of maritime organisations.”
The new partnership is also expected to help the maritime industry address the increasing need to evaluate the security and risk that is present at all levels of shipping operations.
The alliance will leverage NCC Group’s existing global transportation assurance practice and Moran’s knowledge in maritime operational activities.
“The partners believe that this focus on operational technology (OT) is crucial to provide knowledge of the complex systems.”
A new set of security consulting services will be provided by the partnership with a focus on understanding operational threats and how they may be predicted by technical threats and vulnerabilities.
The partners believe that this focus on operational technology (OT) is crucial to provide knowledge of the complex systems and relationships of the maritime industry.
To support this effort, Moran has already launched MoranCyber as a resource.
Moran Shipping Agencies CEO Jim Black said: “This is not just a win for both Moran and NCC Group, but also sets a standard of excellence for cybersecurity within the maritime space.”
Moran, a steamship agency in North America, primarily serves the ship owners, charterers, and marine terminals.
